The legacy of the Wallace family's commitment to bettering the welfare of humankind is further evidenced by
the Wallace Research Foundation's generous support to Consumers for Dental Choice. As administrator
of the foundation, H.B. Wallace's, dedication to the CDC project to abolish the use of mercury in dentistry
stems from personal experience and the scientific knowledge substantiating the neuro-toxicity of
mercury, particularly the long term brain damage resulting from chronic exposure to mercury from
amalgam dental fillings.
Research and education are the main objectives of the WRF, initiated by H.B.'s father, the late H.A.
Wallace, past US Vice President, Secretary of Agriculture, and Secretary of the Interior. Likewise his
grandfather was a past U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and his great grandfather, known as "Uncle Henry",
was active in setting the first U.S. agriculture policy. Jocelyn, H.B.'s wife, also active in the Wallace
Research Foundation, is a strong advocate of a clean environment for endangered animals.
